Right next to the tourist-bustling Yuyuan Garden there is a local street market, which I was so very glad to see. It reminded me of my days of walking around the city of Handan—my favorite thing to do was wander through the street market and talk to the vendors. In a way it felt comforting to see something so familiar. I reminded me that this is still China even with all the tourists, lights, and modern buildings.

Highlights: I don’t recall seeing any ducks in the street markets of Handan, but here there are ducks a plenty. I also saw a woman gutting fish for the people who just purchased them (I wonder where the guts ended up).
